How long does the whole process take?

We are fast. You won’t be waiting for us. Over the last several decades I have continuously streamlined and automated the filing for bankruptcy.

And bankruptcy is all we do. We don’t do closings, we don’t do wills, we don’t do divorces. We do bankruptcies. (and the occasional serious accident case).

From the day that we receive full payment of all fees and costs and the information needed to file, your case should be filed within 7 – 10 days. This is the approximate time it takes to prepare, review by Amy, our senior paralegal, review by me, your Attorney, send to you and receive back your signed case (assuming no changes are needed) and file your case with the Court.

If there is an emergency, (for example, if your house is scheduled to be sold in foreclosure the next day) your case can be filed in 1 day and the foreclosure sale stopped.

Once your case is filed, the case will remain open for about 4 months on average. However, subject to certain exceptions, once your case is filed you can use your checking and savings accounts, open new checking and savings accounts, get a new credit card and otherwise get back on track on with your life.
